Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions vs. O'Connor Eagles

For the second straight game, Mountain Ridge will face off against O'Connor. The Mountain Lions will face off against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain Ridge is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Mountain Ridge proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past O'Connor 4-3.

Mountain Ridge got a great performance from Matthew Licardi as he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts Licardi has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Mountain Ridge's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brody Kirby, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Mountain Ridge's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for O'Connor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season.
