Utica hadn't done well against Johnstown-Monroe recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Redskins put the hurt on the Johnnies with a sharp 3-0 win. For the Redskins, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Johnnies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

While Utica won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-12, 26-24.

Utica's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madison Yates, who had 20 digs and three assists. Yates is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. Jessi Paxton was another key player, getting 11 digs and one assist.

Despite the loss, Johnstown-Monroe still got an impressive performance from Luciana Smith, who had 15 digs and eight assists.

The win made it two in a row for Utica and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Johnstown-Monroe, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Utica will head out to face off against Granville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they will venture away from home to square off against Dublin Coffman at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Johnnies are facing the Shamrocks at the right time seeing as the Shamrocks are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
