Softball Game Preview: Fairview Yellowjackets vs. Spring Hill Raiders

The Fairview Yellowjackets will challenge the Spring Hill Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairview will be strutting in after a win while Spring Hill will be coming in after a defeat.

Fairview is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Sycamore on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Ashlyn Corbin tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grace Fox and Allie Penning did most of the damage at the plate: Fox went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI, while Penning went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave Penning a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameryn Dunn, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Fairview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sycamore only managed five.

Meanwhile, Spring Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 31st straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 16-3 to Independence.

Spring Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Fairview, their victory bumped their record up to 9-17.

Fairview got the 'W' when the teams last played on April 14th against Spring Hill by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
