Softball Recap: El Monte Lions vs. Mountain View Vikings

El Monte waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Mountain View Vikings. That's two games straight that El Monte has won by exactly two runs.

Camila Abundis made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Abundis has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Abundis was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double.

In other batting news, Elisa Gonzalez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Natalie Meza, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

El Monte's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.
