Recap: Winchendon Wapiti vs. Broome Street Academy Warriors
The Winchendon Wapiti's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Broome Street Academy, falling 92-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Broome Street Academy was led to victory by Samuel Acevedo and Andre Wright. Acevedo scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, while Wright dropped a triple-double on 27 points, 14 rebounds, and ten steals. Acevedo is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Demitrius Gould, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Winchendon dropped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Broome Street Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winchendon's road trip will continue as they head out to face Masters at 6:30 p.m. on February 12th. As for Broome Street Academy, they will square off against Brooklyn College Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Brooklyn College Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
