Softball Recap: Rowan County Triumphs

While Rowan County's victory against Boyd County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings won by a run and slipped past the Lions 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Kassi Perkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lauryn Eastham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelbie Ford, who went 1-for-2 with three runs.

Rowan County's win bumped their record up to 27-11. As for Boyd County, their loss dropped their record down to 23-15.

As of now, neither Rowan County nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
