Basketball Recap: Grayson Cox's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southwest Georgia Academy over Tiftarea Academy

Southwest Georgia Academy lost against Tiftarea Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors fell to the Tiftarea Academy Panthers 56-52.

Southwest Georgia Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grayson Cox, who posted 19 points. With that strong performance, Cox is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Briggs Kelley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Southwest Georgia Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Southwest Georgia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Tiftarea Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Southwest Georgia Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-42 win against Westwood on the 7th. As for Tiftarea Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-49 victory against Southland Academy on the 7th.
