Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Princeton's Fourth in Last Five Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bunn, Princeton was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Beddingfield Bruins get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Mary Rachel Uzzell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Uzzell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Baker, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caroline Waller, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Princeton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

Princeton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Beddingfield, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Princeton is set to challenge their familiar foe North Johnston at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Beddingfield will square off against rival Spring Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
