Basketball Recap: Franklin Academy Comes Up Short

Franklin Academy played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Wake Prep Academy Guardians and fell 58-16. The matchup marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Erin Collins was Franklin Academy's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Bella DeLiso held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

Wake Prep Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karly Beckstrand, who almost dropped a double-double with nine boards and 11 steals. Beckstrand is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Zanasha Bolden was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Franklin Academy now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Wake Prep Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Coming up, Franklin Academy will be playing at home against Falls Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wake Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
