Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Watsonville's 11th in Last 12 Outings

Watsonville won the last time they faced Marina and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Watsonville Wildcatz walked away with a 58-45 victory over the Marina Mariners. Given the Wildcatz's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while the Mariners are ranked 1035th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Watsonville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was George Madec out in front who went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leon Madec, who posted 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Watsonville is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.9 points per game. As for Marina, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watsonville will square off against Seaside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Watsonville has four straight victories, Seaside has 20 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court. As for Marina, they will challenge Monte Vista Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marina is facing Monte Vista Christian at the right time seeing as Monte Vista Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
