Preview: Sierra Stallions vs. The Classical Academy Titans
Two dominant guards in Shetara Roebuck and Alaina Bonacquista are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sierra Stallions will be playing in front of their home fans against The Classical Academy Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Sierra's strategy against Mitchell on Monday. Sierra enjoyed a cozy 41-27 victory over Mitchell.
Sierra can attribute much of their success to Briana Torres, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, and Marisa Reyes, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Reyes has scored at least a third of Sierra's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Patritia Hobson, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, The Classical Academy put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season on Monday. They blew past Sand Creek 69-3 at home. The victory was nothing new for The Classical Academy as they're now sitting on three straight.
Sierra's win bumped their record up to 7-15. As for The Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Sierra was taken down by The Classical Academy 75-15 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bonacquista, who scored 24 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. Now that Sierra knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
