Baseball Recap: Jones Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calhoun, Jones was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Ingleside Mustangs by a score of 7-4. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Mustangs on April 1st, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Tyler Lang made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trip Munoz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of BJ Rivas, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Jones' victory bumped their record up to 8-13-1. As for Ingleside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13-1 record this season.

Jones will square off against Robstown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ingleside, they will take on Rockport-Fulton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
