Basketball Recap: Max Haycock's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Thunder Ridge over Highland

Thunder Ridge suffered their closest loss since February 17, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Highland Rams by a score of 49-47. The Titans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 59-47.

Thunder Ridge lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Max Haycock, who posted 11 points and three steals. Haycock has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Deegan Branson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Thunder Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Thunder Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Highland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thunder Ridge will challenge Blackfoot at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. As for Highland, they will square off against Skyline at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th.
