Baseball Recap: New Lothrop Comes Up Short

New Lothrop couldn't beat Merrill on Saturday even though they stacked six runs on them in the third inning. The Hornets came up short against the Vandals, falling 15-9. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Diam Edwards and Zane Rumisek did some serious damage despite the final result: Edwards got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Rumisek went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Hayden Wendling was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

New Lothrop's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Merrill, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

Coincidentally, New Lothrop and Merrill will both be playing Maple Valley the next time they take the field. The Vandals will head out to face the Lions at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Hornets will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
