Basketball Recap: Steeleville Takes a Loss

Steeleville lost against Sparta back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Steeleville Warriors fell to the Sparta Bulldogs 35-30. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Steeleville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rylan Reiss posted 17 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Hepp, who put up two points and eight rebounds.

Leading Sparta to victory were Sierra Starr and Maddie Schulein. Starr went 6 of 10 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds, while Schulein had 11 points.

Steeleville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Sparta, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Steeleville will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Trico at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Sparta will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Steeleville at 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025.
