Softball Recap: River Ridge/Scales Mound Has No Trouble Against West Carroll

River Ridge/Scales Mound had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt West Carroll on Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Thunder 8-2. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Thunder: they've now won eight in a row.

Elizabeth Rife was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Anika Stadel was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Katherine Bilderback, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

River Ridge/Scales Mound's record now sits at 11-14. As for West Carroll, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-20.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Ridge/Scales Mound will face off against Benton/Shullsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Carroll, they will take on Warren/Stockton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
