The Camas Papermakers will venture away from home to square off against the Evergreen Plainsmen at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Camas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

Camas gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Kelso 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Papermakers have posted since April 10, 2024.

Ainsley Schweitzer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Gracelyn Johnson was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Elliot Bristol also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Camas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Evergreen was not able to break out of their rough patch back in March as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 15-0 to Battle Ground.

Camas has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Evergreen, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Camas beat Evergreen 5-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Papermakers repeat their success, or do the Plainsmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
