Basketball Recap: Demetrius Simon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mclane over Fresno Christian

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact McLane can now relate to. They fell 64-53 to the Fresno Christian Eagles on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 567th, while the Eagles are ranked 200th).

McLane lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Demetrius Simon, who went 7-for-11 en route to 17 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Keyvon Burcher, who posted 13 points.

Even though they lost, McLane smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

McLane dropped their record down to 18-12 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Fresno Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season.

McLane does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fresno Christian, they will face off against Ridgeview at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Fresno Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matchups.
