Volleyball Recap: Brookside Takes a Loss

Brookside came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Firelands Falcons, falling 3-0. The Cardinals have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-10.

Khloe Jennings paced Brookside's offense, picking up five kills. Jennings got some help from Sydney Adkins and her 14 assists. Finally, Sara Afaneh kept Brookside's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Stella Frederick was the offensive standout of the match as she had 29 digs and five aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September.

Brookside's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Firelands, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Brookside's homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Trinity at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Firelands, after both having extra time off, they and Ravenna will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
