            Softball Preview: Saranac Spartans vs. Ticonderoga Sentinels        
        
		
        
        
            The Saranac Spartans are taking a road trip to  square off against the Ticonderoga Sentinels  at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one:  the two teams posted some lofty  run totals in their previous games.
Last Wednesday, Saranac got the win against Saranac Lake  by a conclusive  16-1. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Red Storm recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive  win against them.
 Irelyn Ryan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned  (and 19 unearned) runs off   three  hits (and not a single walk). Ryan was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news, Saranac got a  massive  performance out of  Emily McDermott, who  went 2-for-3 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs. That's the most  hits  McDermott has posted since back in April of 2024.  Maddie Gagnier was another key player,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI.
 Meanwhile, Ticonderoga strolled into their game  on Thursday with a perfect  record and they left with the same. They blew past Northeastern Clinton 16-9. Fans of the Sentinels have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+  runs.
 Saranac's record is now 2-0. As for Ticonderoga, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the  victory, which was their ninth straight  on the road dating back to last season.
