League recap: Harker Heights scores huge upset over Belton

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Harker Heights, who took down 72nd ranked Belton, 7-0.

The Knights moved up to 355 from 480 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region I District 8. A 7-0 win over the Tigers helped Harker Heights improve its standing.

Belton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Peter Shelburne threw for 137 yards and Derick Bates had 97 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Rhoads chipped in 37 yards.

Belton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Shelburne has thrown for 691 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Bates has 14 catches for 326 yards. Rhoads leads the league in rushing with 346 yards.

Temple was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats defeated Shoemaker 69-29.
