Basketball Recap: Lilly Saltzman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Families of Faith Christian Academy over Schaumburg Christian

Families of Faith Christian Academy easily dispatched Grace Christian Academy last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Families of Faith Christian Academy Screaming Eagles fell just short of the Schaumburg Christian Conquerors by a score of 50-47 on Friday. The Screaming Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Conquerors earlier this season, when they won 35-32.

Families of Faith Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lilly Saltzman, who went 7-for-12 on her way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Huizinga, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 13 points.

Schaumburg Christian found their leader in freshman Giada Falco, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and ten boards. Falco has become a key player for Schaumburg Christian: the team is 7-2 when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 0-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephanie Tenuto, who posted eight points along with eight boards and seven assists.

Families of Faith Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Schaumburg Christian, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-13.

Families of Faith Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-22 win against Marquette Manor Baptist Academy on the 18th. As for Schaumburg Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 61-43 defeat against Aurora Christian on the 15th.
