Soccer Game Preview: Argyle vs. Denton

The Argyle Eagles will take on the Denton Broncos at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Argyle has six straight victories, Denton has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Argyle's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Colleyville Heritage 3-0. Considering the Eagles have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Denton's offense. They came up short against Colleyville Heritage on Friday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 484th, while the Panthers are ranked 51st).

Argyle pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for Denton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.

Argyle took their victory against Denton in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 6-1. Will Argyle repeat their success, or does Denton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
