Fike posted their closest victory since December 27, 2023 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Southern Wayne Saints, sneaking past 75-72. Given the Demons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Saints are ranked 487th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southern Wayne lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Demetrius Elliot, who went 7-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 18 games he's played. Kairell Evans was another key player, going 7-for-11 to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Fike and bumps their season record up to 15-7. As for Southern Wayne, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-17.

Fike wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-47 defeat against Hunt on the 14th. As for Southern Wayne, they have also already played their next matchup, a 79-40 loss against C.B. Aycock on the 14th.
