Recap: Lake County Baptist Lions vs. Cristo Rey St. Martin Knights
After flying high against the Cathedral Baptist Crusaders last Tuesday, the Lake County Baptist Lions came back down to earth. Lake County Baptist was outmatched by the Knights on the road and fell 74-21. Lake County Baptist has not had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Lake County Baptist's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Reindl, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Davis, who scored six points.
Lebron Massey was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 27 points, 12 rebounds, and ten steals for Cristo Rey St. Martin. Massey has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayllen Godoy, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Lake County Baptist has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Cristo Rey St. Martin, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake County Baptist will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Union Grove Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Cristo Rey St. Martin, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the at 7:00 p.m.
