Central California Athletic Alliance recap November 5, 2013
Noah Miedema and Kimo Maio provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Elliot Christian. The connection was good for 89 yards, the longest such play in Central California Athletic Alliance this season.
Brookside Christian extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Stone Ridge Christian, 50-20. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Big Valley Christian's dynamic duo of Miedema and Maio proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Miedema threw for 205 yards and 3 touchdowns and Maio had 172 yards receiving. Marcus Zuniga helped Big Valley Christian's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 15 yards.
He went 8-16 with 1 interception.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Brookside Christian's Austin Caldron and Blake Smallie have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Caldron has thrown for 2,189 yards this season, while Smallie has 37 catches for 573 yards. Estevon Herrera from the Knights leads the league in rushing with 1,221 yards.
The top two teams in Central California Athletic Alliance will face off this week when first place Brookside Christian takes on second place Millennium. Sam Sears' team defeated Stone Ridge Christian last week, while Millennium topped Sierra Ridge/Rite of Passage.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Knights' Smallie goes up against the Falcons' Malik Charles.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Brookside Christian takes on Millennium. The Knights' offense has recorded 374 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Jayson Dias' team has permitted only 148 on the year.
Next week's game between Brookside Christian and the Falcons will feature a good passing match up as Caldron will test his arm against Charles' defensive ability.
The Rams fell to Millennium 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
