Baseball Recap: Mica Mountain Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Mica Mountain's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Catalina Foothills on Monday. The Thunderbolts came out on top in a nail-biter against the Walden Grove Red Wolves, sneaking past 8-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Thunderbolts also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Ethan Hunt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Mica Mountain is 3-1 when Hunt posts two or more runs, but 4-8-1 otherwise.

Mica Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Walden Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Mica Mountain will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Wolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
