Softball Recap: Rittman Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northwestern, Rittman was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Crestline Bulldogs as Rittman made off with a 14-3 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Indians' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Lillian Halliwell and Cailin Tyree made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Halliwell didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Tyree tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Halliwell scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Tyree scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carly Frame, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis LaBo, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Rittman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crestline only posted an OBP of .261.

Rittman's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Rittman will head out to square off against Oberlin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crestline, they will square off against Colonel Crawford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
