Volleyball Game Preview: Mound City Panthers vs. East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax]

The Mound City Panthers will venture away from home to challenge East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mound City, who comes in off a win.

Mound City took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Rock Port.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-14, 22-25, 25-16.

Meanwhile, East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] didn't have quite enough to beat South Holt on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating South Holt 25-16 in the first set.

East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] actually scored more points across those five sets (101-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 15-11.

Mound City pushed their record up to 11-6-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax], their defeat dropped their record down to 9-17-1.

Mound City took their victory against East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
