Baseball Recap: Fowler Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Fowler couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to the Monte Vista Pirates, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Grizzlies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pirates earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Brock True spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Fowler saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Froman, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Fowler and nudges their season record down to 21-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Monte Vista, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Fowler does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monte Vista, they will take on Denver Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 3.7, the Thunder 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
