Baseball Recap: Lourdes Gets the Win

Lourdes came out on top against Holy Family Catholic on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Fire. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 21st.

The team relied heavily on Brayden Kottschade, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Owen Streefland was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lourdes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Family Catholic only managed ten.

Lourdes has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Holy Family Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Lourdes will take on Lake City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Holy Family Catholic, they will venture away from home to take on Providence Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Fire's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
