Softball Recap: San Marcos' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of five wins, San Marcos's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 6-3 to the Otay Ranch Mustangs. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 10-5.

San Marcos got a good showing from Charlotte Shelton, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Shelton has allowed since March 1st.

On the hitting side, Addie Taufa made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Emma Royko also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

San Marcos' loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Otay Ranch, they pushed their record up to 5-2-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, San Marcos will host Oceanside at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Otay Ranch, they will challenge Canyon View at 9:00 a.m. on April 3.
