Baseball Game Preview: Red Level Tigers vs. Excel Panthers

The Red Level Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Excel Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Red Level couldn't beat Flomaton on Tuesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the third inning. The Tigers fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 10-9. The Tigers have struggled against the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Tanner Whatley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jai McClellan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Excel came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Panthers have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lane White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on JP Norris, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Logan Adams was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Red Level's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Excel, their victory bumped their record up to 22-7-1.

Red Level couldn't quite finish off Excel in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 6-4. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
