Preview: Teays Valley Christian Lions vs. Nitro Wildcats
The Teays Valley Christian Lions will take on the Nitro Wildcats in a holiday battle at 9:30 p.m. on Friday at. Teays Valley Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 658 points over their last eight matchups.
Even though West Logan Christian Academy scored an imposing 72 points on Tuesday, Teays Valley Christian still came out on top. Teays Valley Christian strolled past West Logan Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 86-72. The victory was just what Teays Valley Christian needed coming off of a 93-67 defeat in their prior matchup.
Teays Valley Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maki Cary, who scored 32 points along with six assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Cary has scored at least 25% of Teays Valley Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wade Browder, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Nitro entered their tilt with Sissonville with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Nitro narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Sissonville 55-52.
Among those leading the charge was Ashton Crouch, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Timmy Lovejoy, who scored nine points along with six assists.
Teays Valley Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. As for Nitro, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
