SANDY, Utah -
Alta (Sandy, Utah) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 7 in Utah, but was stunned by
Jordan (Sandy, Utah), 42-28. Jordan was ranked at No. 12 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Utah coming into the week.
After taking the lead on an
Austin Kafentzis touchdown pass to
Mason Kruger in the second quarter, the Beetdiggers were up 28-21 at the half.
Jordan grew its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. JHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Clay Moss.
Kafentzis and Moss ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Hawks. Kafentzis scored two touchdowns on the ground and Moss added two as well.
A 36-24 Jordan victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The win brought Jordan's winning streak to three games.
In a 5A Region 3 game next week Alta (2-4) takes on Copper Hills, and Jordan (4-3) will go up against Bingham also in a 5A Region 3 game.
