Basketball Recap: San Juan Broncos vs. St. Joseph Jayhawks
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but San Juan had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 68-43 margin over the St. Joseph Jayhawks. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-12.
Leading San Juan to victory were Jagger Nieves and Tripp Palmer. Nieves dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Palmer went 8-for-14 on his way to 17 points and six boards. What's more, Nieves also posted five steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Jake Ivins was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.
San Juan was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Joseph only racked up eight assists.
Despite the loss, St. Joseph still got an impressive performance from Gavin Donovan, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Donovan is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Wolf, who earned 11 points.
