Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Miami Christian). They came out on top against the Pinecrest Prep Crocs by a score of 67-59 on Thursday. Given the Victors' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Crocs' are ranked 673rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Miami Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hector Saavedra led the charge by putting up 11 points and six assists. Saavedra has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Pedro Sapiras, who posted nine points along with five boards and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Pinecrest Prep lost, don't look at Gabriel Guzman. Despite the final result, he earned 25 points. That was a full 42.4% of Pinecrest Prep's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Aidan Rivero was another key player, posting 15 points.

Miami Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Pinecrest Prep, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Miami Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-49 win against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) on the 15th. As for Pinecrest Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-45 victory against Pinecrest Glades Academy on the 13th.
