Softball Recap: Marshall Owls vs. Smith-Cotton Tigers
Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of the Smith-Cotton Tigers by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Owls of the 12-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
Ainsley McCracken and Haven Casteel stepped up to the plate in a big way. McCracken scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Casteel scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Fann, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and an RBI.
Marshall now has a losing record at 3-4.
Marshall's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lebanon at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Smith-Cotton, they will square off against Helias at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
