Preview: Saxony Lutheran Crusaders vs. Doniphan Dons
The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Doniphan Dons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Saxony Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Monday.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Saxony Lutheran ultimately got the result they hoped for. They snuck past St. Vincent with a 71-67 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Evie Caruso continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Saxony Lutheran's points. Another player making a difference was Maddie Preusser, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Doniphan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 50-25 margin over Fredericktown. Fans of Doniphan have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Central's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Saxony Lutheran's defeat dropped theirs to 2-2.
Saxony Lutheran was taken down by Doniphan 58-31 in their previous meeting back in March. Can Saxony Lutheran avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
