Despite the defeat, Harding University saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jamarcus Hairston rushed for 113 yards and a pair of TDs. Hairston also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Rams are 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-6 otherwise.
