Basketball Game Preview: Nimitz Cougars vs. Dekaney Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Nimitz Cougars challenge the Dekaney Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... Nimitz is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.

Nimitz took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 73-56 victory over Spring.

Nimitz's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaden Bergeron led the charge by going 7 of 13 en route to 22 points. That's the most points Bergeron has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimiren Ratliff, who went 9 of 11 on his way to 27 points.

Meanwhile, Dekaney came into Tuesday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down MacArthur 53-38 on Tuesday.

Nimitz's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 12-13. As for Dekaney, their record is now 11-12.

Nimitz strolled past Dekaney when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 53-39. Does Nimitz have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dekaney turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
