Basketball Recap: Fairmont Senior Takes a Loss

Fairmont Senior lost against Grafton back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fairmont Senior Polar Bears received a blow as they fell 55-38 to the Grafton Bearcats. While losing is never fun, the Polar Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Bearcats are ranked fifth).

Kenna Keener continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grafton, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 23 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Keener a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Horne, who posted nine points and three steals.

Fairmont Senior has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Grafton, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Fairmont Senior will finish 2024 at home by hosting Albert Gallatin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairmont Senior is facing Albert Gallatin at the right time seeing as Albert Gallatin is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Grafton and Nicholas County will round out the year against one another at at 8:00 p.m. on December 27th.
