Basketball Recap: Skiatook Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Skiatook can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Glenpool Warriors and fell 67-33. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.

Yaya Gibson was her usual excellent self, en route to 19 points along with seven steals and five assists for Glenpool. Gibson is becoming a predictor of Glenpool's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 11-2 (and 6-7 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Tyra Mckinnie, who posted eight points in addition to 12 steals and five boards.

Skiatook's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Glenpool, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Skiatook will take on Checotah at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Skiatook is facing Checotah at the right time seeing as Checotah is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Glenpool, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hilldale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Glenpool is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season.
