Game recap: Woodson high school football team leaps out of the gate in victory over Spingarn

Woodson (Washington, D.C.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 50-0 win over Spingarn (Washington, D.C.).

The Warriors put up 19 points in the opening frame. Woodson scored on a punt return touchdown, a touchdown run and a rushing touchdown.

After taking the lead on a punt return touchdown in the first quarter, WHS led 38-0 at the half.

The Warriors expanded their lead to 44 points entering the fourth quarter. Woodson scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run.

WHS had struggled this season, allowing 39.3 points per game.



When the two teams played each other last season, the Warriors came away with a 38-6 victory.

With the win Woodson extended its winning streak to three games.

Woodson (3-4) goes up against McKinley Tech in a DCIAA - Eastern game matchup next week, while Spingarn (2-5) locks horns with Ballou also in a DCIAA - Eastern game.
