Softball Game Preview: Kearns Cougars vs. Cyprus Pirates

For the second straight game, Kearns will face off against Cyprus. The Cougars will challenge the Pirates at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Kearns has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kearns heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Saturday. They came up short against Cyprus, falling 18-2. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Cyprus' part, Breelyn ( Bree ) Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ajla Hadzialijagic was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Frankee Kelsch also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Cyprus and bumps their season record up to 14-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Kearns, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
