Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Badgers vs. Escalante Moquis

Wayne is a perfect 10-0 against Escalante since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Badgers will head out on the road to face off against the Moquis at 7:00 p.m. Wayne is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Saturday, Wayne took their matchup with ease, bagging a 56-26 win over Tintic. The Badgers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Wayne's success was spearheaded by the efforts of AJ VanDyke, who went 7-for-14 on her way to 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Lilly Morrill, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 12 points and four steals. The contest was VanDyke's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Madi Jacobson, who posted six points.

Wayne was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tintic only posted three.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Escalante over Bryce Valley in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. The Moquis enjoyed a cozy 41-26 victory over the Mustangs.

Escalante's win came from a few key players Wayne will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cora Gardner, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Those 12 points gave her a new career-high. Amre Jenkins was another key player, putting up nine points.

Wayne's record now sits at 6-0. As for Escalante, their record is now 2-0.

Everything came up roses for Wayne against Escalante when the teams last played back in February, as the squad secured a 62-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Badgers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
