Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Lions are ranked 431st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Carbondale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Foxes as they made off with a 59-38 win.

Carbondale pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Vienna, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.

Vienna didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Carbondale in their previous matchup on December 9th, but they still walked away with a 55-50 victory. Will Vienna repeat their success, or does Carbondale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
