Baseball Recap: Shadow Mountain Matadors vs. Paradise Honors Panthers

Shadow Mountain can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They skirted past the Paradise Honors Panthers 8-7. The victory was just what Shadow Mountain needed coming off of a 14-1 loss in their prior contest.

Jack Zauner was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples and five RBI. Andy Chaplick was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

On Paradise Honors' side, Michael Nicolini Jr. was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Nicolini Jr. has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Nicolini Jr. was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Nicolini Jr. wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Paradise Honors didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 12 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shadow Mountain only tossed six.

Shadow Mountain's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12. As for Paradise Honors, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Shadow Mountain will have a chance to go back-to-back against Paradise Honors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
