Basketball Recap: Trenton Cothran's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Armuchee over Chattooga

Armuchee was the 58-37 winner over Chattooga when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Armuchee Indians lost 81-61 to the Chattooga Indians on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Armuchee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while Chattooga is ranked 260th).

Armuchee lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Trenton Cothran, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 31 points. Another player making a difference was Grayson Isham, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Armuchee is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Chattooga, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Armuchee and Chattooga will both be playing Gordon Central the next time they take the court. Chattooga will host Gordon Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Armuchee will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
