Softball Recap: Jennings County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Jennings County had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Brownstown Central Braves by a score of 8-3 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Arian Day made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Riley Byford was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Maycie Ward, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Jennings County's record now sits at 5-6. As for Brownstown Central, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jennings County will square off against Greensburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brownstown Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Seymour at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
